Do I have to pay any up-front money to secure representation in my personal injury matter?
No. For personal injury matters, all consultations are free and we do not get paid until we resolve your case. You pay us out of the funds we secure on your behalf. You are not asked to pay any funds up front.
What types of compensation can I receive?
There are two basic types of recoverable damages in personal injury cases: Economic and Non-Economic.
Economic damages are sometimes referred to as, “out-of-pocket expenses.” These include medical expenses, loss of earnings, and property damage. Economic damages are easy to quantify. For example, it is relatively simple to determine the amount of past medical care or the cost of a rental car.
Non-economic damages are sometimes referred to as, “pain and suffering damages.” This includes items such as physical pain, emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment for life. These damages do not have a set value. They are based in part on the impact of the injury event on your life and governed by the notion that the value must be grounded in reason.
In addition, there are also punitive damages, which can only be awarded by the court. Punitive damages are not based on an evaluation of your injuries. Rather, they are designed to punish the adverse party and to deter similar conduct from happening in the future.
Will my attorney keep me updated regarding developments in my case?
Yes. You will be advised of all case-related developments. You will always have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the status of your case and the direction the case is headed. All options on how to proceed as the case develops will be explained and the best options will be identified.
Do I have to go to trial to resolve my case?
In short, in most instances, trial is not mandatory. Statistically, most personal injury claims settle without the filing of a lawsuit. Of the cases where a lawsuit is filed, once again, statistically, most matters resolve before trial.

Attorney John Sahhar and the Sahhar Law Firm primarily focus on personal injury matters. Approximately 90-95% of the firm’s cases are personal injury cases. The remaining cases are business-related cases.

Do I need an attorney?
If you have been seriously injured, you need an attorney. No matter what you hear in an insurance commercial, the truth is that an insurance company is only your friend when they are trying to get you to purchase an insurance policy. Selling policies is how an insurance company makes money. Paying claims is how an insurance company loses money. Insurance companies make more when they sell more policies and pay less on claims. You need competent counsel to put an insurance company’s feet to the fire and to make sure you receive reasonable and just compensation for your injuries and damages. An insurance company is not going to take care of you out of the goodness of its heart. Insurance companies only act reasonably when they are forced to by good counsel. Ideally, after an injury event, you should focus on healing and getting your life back in order. Your counsel should be preparing the proof needed to win your case and your counsel should be the one fighting with the insurance company.
